Aerogen Plans Global Move into Emergency Departments

21 October, 2016

Aerogen a Galway-based company has developed a new and innovative way to treat bronchospasm (a sudden narrowing of the airway). The innovation is to use a vibrating mesh to turn liquid medication into a fine mist. This will be an improvement over the conventional way of delivering respiratory medication which is by using a nebulizer. The new technology will ensure that more of the drug gets to the lungs where it is needed. The company employs around 70 people in Galway. This is a fantastic innovation made possible by the Irish Medical Devices industry. This industry should be bustling over the next decade with the establishment of the CĂșram institute in Galway, which opened last month. This institute will bring more and more medical device innovations to Irish soil.
